Same same... But different....

I haven't been writing much. Too busy, too tired, and too uninspired. A few things going on at the moment, with the girls and the like. Headline news? Umm.. Winnii's resigned, Lee's resigned, Phuong *may* resign end of this year; Jen's started her new job.. It's going around?

Kad came back last week, and we went out for her birthday. Oh gosh. I didn't realise how much I had missed her until I heard her voice. And gosh, she still looks amazing.

So anyway, the story I wanted to tell.. Just a little one. It's funny, because I seem to only have these kinds of stories with Kad and Phuong, never with any of the other girls. I swear, it's their influence.

So.. the story itself. Friday night, September 25, the day after Kad's birthday. So Kad is in Melbourne to celebrate her birthday, before flying back to Dubai on Saturday. I picked Kad up, and we head to Lee's house. Now, Lee's road is 'U' shaped, so there are 2 entrances to get into the road from the exact same street. I hadn't been to Lee's house for a while, and I always get confused which left to take, whether it's at the traffic lights, or just before, or just after... So, distracted because Kad and I are talking all the way through it, having a catch up on the past 12 months, I turn into the first entrance I see, and go along the street.. I thought I had found Lee's house, and drive into the driveway.. A double storey house, corner block, double garage, just after a road to the left.. Silver car in the driveway.. It looked shiny and new, kind of like a Mercedes.. Seemed like the right house.

So we get out, and Kad mentions, "Ooooo.. This is new...", pointing to the front garden.. I look at it, and think to myself, "Hmmm... I don't remember Lee saying she was going to do her front yard..."

So we get to the front door, and I look for a door bell.. And couldn't find one. I start getting confused, because I was certain Lee had one.. I remember ringing the doorbell when at her place ages ago, and Matty hearing it, and yelling to Lee that he was going to open the door.. I think to myself, "Hmm.. I was SURE Lee had a doorbell? I must be getting confused with someone else's house..."

So we knock instead. The front door opens, and a little boy stands there. Now, this is the freaky thing. This kid LOOKED like Matty, just a little older, and not as cute. He was about 6 years old (Matty's five??). And this kid was also a halfie, half asian, half aussie, with short, short brown hair, big brown eyes, quite a cutie. Just not as cute as Matty. He just looked like an older version of Matty. He looked so much like Matty that I could see Matty looking like this kid in a year or two's time. Uncanny resemblance.

Kad looks at the kid, and I can see she looks stunned, 'coz she hadn't seen Matty in over a year, and he had certainly changed from when she last remembered him. As for me, I had seen Matty just a few weeks ago, so I KNEW this wasn't Matty, even though he LOOKED like Matty.

A girl, and a group of other kids are behind him, and one of them LOOKED like Charlotte. Starting to get freaky deaky. This girl was just older, and not as cute. This girl was about 4, instead of 18 months, but another halfie as well, and there were about three other aussie kids, who could've been one of Dan's nieces/nephews for all we knew. It's certainly not strange to see hoardes of multicultural children at Lee's house.

I just figured they were friends, or family friends. Hell, there are always kids at Lee's house. Different kids. Kids of all ages. The kids just look at us, and I said, 'Hey!'

They open the door to let us in, which made the whole situation even more confusing, because it looked like they were expecting us. I look at Kad. Kad's a bit bewildered at this time, still stunned at how big Matty's grown. From where I stand on the porch, I can see the hallway, and I can see a flight of stairs directly ahead, and I know we're at the wrong house, 'coz I distinctly remember Lee has a long hallway, and you can't see her stairway from her front door. This house was just too small to be Lee's house. Lee's house is huge. It didn't look like Lee's house anymore - there were too many discrepancies.

I say to Kad: Umm.. We're at the wrong house...
Kad (looking around at the front garden, driveway, and into the house): Eh? Are you sure? No... This is the right house...

I look into the house, and see the stairs again, and look back to Kad, and then at the kids, who are waiting to us to come in..

Me: Umm.. I'm pretty sure this isn't it..
Kad's beginning to look confused...
Me to the kids: Sorry guys, wrong house.. Bye!

We start walking back to the car, and Kad's like... "Babes.. Are you sure? It's the right house.. Come on... Let's go back.. It is the right house.. Lee always has kids over.. It looks like her house.. And there! There's the Mercedes!"

We get closer to the silver Mercedes.. And it was no Mercedes.. It was a Toyota.

Lol!

We were at the wrong house!

So we start laughing, head back to the car.. Kad then starts making fun of me that I don't know Lee's house, and we're going tit-for-tat at each other, me retorting that she didn't know Lee's house either! Back on the road, and we're again looking for Lee's house..

And I find one that resembles her house a little further down the street.. Double storey, large balcony, corner block, double garage, park opposite, steep driveway.. Number 75.. Hmm.. That number sounds familiar. By now, I'm pretty sure we're at the right house. But there's a black car in the driveway, and that doesn't look familiar. Undeterred, I indicate to turn into the driveway anyway. Lee always has guests over!

But Kad's not convinced.

She's going off..

Kad (talking at a million miles an hour): Are you sure it's the right house?! Who's car is that? Who's Audi's that?? Lee doesn't drive an Audi! There's no Mercedes! Where's the Mercedes?? Who's that kid in the room? Who's that aussie kid??? That's definitely not Matty! Don't drive in! Don't drive in unless you've got the right house!

Me (talking back at a million miles an hour): I dunno who's Audi that is!! She's probably got guests!!! The Mercedes is probably in the garage! That kid?? I dunno! I dunno! Is it Alex?? It's the right house! It is!!

So we're in the middle of the road, indicating left to drive into this driveway, and arguing whether I should drive in or not, when Lee opens the door, and is like, "What are you guys doing??"

Hahahaha!

Hilarious!! So we park, get out, and go into the house.. And what did I tell you? She had guests over! There were kids galore! And the black Audi belonged to Dan's brother, with the Mercedes in the garage!

So we tell Lee the story, with lots of bouts of laughter in between, and she looks incredulous..

Oh my God! The things that happen when Kad's around! I only have these kinds of stories with Kad and Phuong...

Hahahaha! Gosh, it was too funny!

I'm telling you - It's her! Not me!

And it's these kind of stories that made me realise how much I had missed her. And gosh, we have some pretty funny stories. Perth. Sydney. Mud wrestling. Gosh, I miss her.
