Chinese New Year!

So Chinese New Year didn't start with a bang like New Years did at Albert Park, but rather with a deep and meaningful conversation between a very tipsy (if not drunk) Tony and Jenny down by Port Melbourne. We all made an effort in the scorching 38 degree heat, dressed and frocked up. Upon our arrival, we found our table of eight was outside, with no fan or air-conditioning, and very little breeze. Oh well, so we'll burn in the afternoon sun, I thought. Our waitress was quite nice and friendly, very sociable. The restaurant was 3 Station Pier, which also doubles as it's address, down by Port Melbourne. The food was quite nice, and came with a quite dear price as well. Hehehehe. But the service was, at best, ordinary, and at worst, pretty bad. Good thing the food kind of made up for it.

They confirmed our booking of eight, but had placed seven settings. Then they brought out seven appetizers. Our waitress then confirmed we had ordered seven mains (Trinh didn't want a main), but then six mains came out. So, after waiting about an hour for our mains, only to find Jenny had no meal, left a bad taste in my mouth. They brought out drinks we hadn't ordered as well, but what I found most amusing was at the end of the fiasco evening, our waitress had the audicity to ask surprisingly, 'Oh, you're not having any dessert?'

I loved Jenny's answer: 'No, we're going next door..'

Rating: 4/10 - The food made up for the terrible service.

Photos now up on flickr. I've resigned to the fact that I won't be getting actual New Years or Chill On photos for another year or so.. On a brighter note,

Happy New Year!

  1. Wow, that is bad. I thought Bojana and I waiting for well over an hour for our food at Torquay Hotel was bad enough..lol..We had a price tag to ours too, but I doubt probably as much as yours. That's just crap thuy, just crap..lol..You should have been given complimentry drinks or even desserts. I have to say food never makes up for bad service if you haven't been yet. So I'll give it a miss. Nothing worse than when you are starving hungry ready to eat the table and they stuff things up and muck about.

Anyway Happy New Year to you too. :) *big hugs*

We have to catch up soooooon!!!!!!
