They let Craig go last Friday. I got the shock call from Shona in the morning - I initially thought she had had enough and was calling to tell me she had resigned.. Until she said that it was Craig instead.
Sigh. He wasn't given an opportunity to even say his goodbyes to his team - just 15 minutes to pack up his stuff, and leave. I've heard he was very upset, and it came as a shock.
The whole thing just.. It just makes me sad. Two months ago I thought his job was on the line, but when GDV sacked Erica instead, I thought he got the backing. Apparently it was performance driven, but they set him up for failure. An impossible sales target to hit, coupled with a major restructure that made him fight to get resources, and a hiring freeze that left him with half his team. How the hell can you achieve your target under those circumstances?
I suppose at that level, it was either the boss, or him. The boss has been in the job 21 months now, with nothing to show for it. Why not sack the sales director, and buy more time?
No one has any contact details for him, and he's deleted his account from LinkedIn. I guess he just wants time away now. I hope he finds something soon.
