I went to the Viva latino restaurant Saturday night for Nik's and Kad's birthday celebrations. It was a nice little, cosy place. There was entertainment, not only of the live band variety or the latino dance show, but also a dance competition, and latin dance lesson! All packed into a night of latino flair.
Katoomba (sp??) presented us with a dance show to offset the different latin dance styles from Brazil, Colombia and Cuba. I think. My memory. Dodgy, dodgy. Anyhoo, speaking of dodgy, they had a dance competition, claiming the winners would win a mystery trip away for two. They pulled out random diners from the crowd, and fortunately, they pulled both Cyrus and Trinh up onto the dancefloor. But they weren't allowed to dance together. So random pairs showed off their latin dance skills, and we the audience were to pick who the winners were by screaming, shouting, stamping and making as much noise as we possibly could.
So, in fact, we did double the screaming because both Trinh and Cyrus were up on the dance floor, gyrating their hips to the music. Gosh, we were all thinking, 'Darnnit, this trip had better be worth all this screaming!' After half an hour of screaming, can you imagine our disappointment when we found there was NO mystery trip?! How could they do that?! Dodgy, dodgy. But it was fun seeing Trinh and Cyrus shaking their thang.
