I worked at Honda this weekend, doing their stocktake. It surprised me how many familiar faces I saw - most of the people in the office where I worked at over three years ago are still there. None of them recognised me, other than my old manager, Julie. And even then, I didn't get a chance to talk to her, because I worked my ass off. The warehouse, now that I was there again, looked so small in comparison to how I remember feeling the first time I walked in there. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing huge warehouses at Post, Linfox and Toll now, but it looked tiny. The amount of stock they held as well, was a tiny proportion of what Post usually has. But that's understandable, given their order profile. It amazed me, though, how much I knew of their warehouse just by looking at it. I'm definitely working with the right mix of people to learn off. All I could think of was how I recognised their selective racking, how much that would cost; the number of forklifts they had, all the shelves, the number of ladders, why it was laid out that way. I knew it. And it made sense to me as well.
So, all credit goes to the team I work with: Jim, Lorraine, Michael and Craig, because I think I've learned a hell of a lot in the past three months. And I must've impressed the warehouse supervisor there, Con, as well, 'coz he offered me a job there, and told me anytime I wanted any work there, or earn extra money, then to give him a call and he'll sort me out. Now all I gotta do is wait for my boss, Craig, to come back from Sydney so I can tell him my story! But I would have to give my full month's notice, because I just got official word that I passed my probation period, even though it ended last month. Woo hoo!
On a different note, I finally have pictures of the Chill On bar, and New years, so will post them up when I can.
On a completely different tangent: Tony wasn't happy with my last entry, as I alluded to him being very tipsy, if not drunk on Chinese New Years down at Port Melbourne. Sorry Tony, you were absolutely right. I wasn't completely honest in my last entry. The correct line should have read: 'a deep and meaningful conversation with a completely smashed Jenny and Tony'. And to be honest, Jenny passed out on a park bench before the end of the night, and Tony.. Well, Tony was pretty drunk, because he actually could not recall having an in depth conversation with me at the end of the night about his blog he recently started. He described in detail how 'ordinary' and 'plain' his blog was compared to mine, and wanted me to give him inspiration. Aka, be his muse - his word, not mine! Alas, I found out days later that he doesn't have a blog. As Nikki calls it, it was his red wine blog.
But I forgot to mention the highlight of Chinese New Year's Eve - our attempt to open two bottles of wine, without a bottle opener. First, we tried pushing down the cork. Second, we went looking for anything that could remotely substitute as a bottle opener. But the most interesting idea came from the boys, Luong and Tony, who went looking in their cars, before sitting down by a park bench, and hammering away at the bottles! Unfortunately, it didn't work. They got it open by asking a restaurant. Hehehe.
On the topic of past entries, word got out about my 'How to say this..?' entry, and the recipient of that post has read it. Actually, it was read to her before she read it herself. And, if anyone's interested to know, she wasn't upset with me, and didn't yell, scream or holler at me. We are still friends, and still very good friends. We had a good talk about it, and, although it's not resolved, my hope is that it does help in pushing her along in the direction of her happiness.
On a much sadder note, there was a comment posted on my 'Journalists..' entry last night from Nhan's wife, Lucinda. My heart goes out to you, Lucinda, because, in all honesty, when that journalist was asking about Nhan, my heart was racing at the thought that something was wrong with my brother. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would be like without my brother. And I don't pretend to know what it must be like for you at the moment. I send my sincerest regards to yourself and your family for your loss.

I'm quiet insulted that you said "I passed out", I was sleeping! Its not the same as being passed out. But then again, coming from someone who doesnt drink, you may not know the difference. But then again YOU should, given your past history with ALCOHOL.
