Still disgusted

I found out this morning that my Sydney trip has been postponed. Till.. I'm not sure, actually. Till whenever Arnotts/Linfox decide to fork up to pay for it I guess. All my implementations have been put on hold, so uncannily, I have found myself in the unusual situation of being surprisingly free at work. It's been a long time since this has happened. So I can honestly twiddle my thumbs at the moment. Well, until next month anyway. My guess is that all five software implementations will start up at the same time. Hell, they all got put on hold at the same time, dammit. But ah well. At least I can sit here and blog away then..

Today I have faith in humanity again. I was relieved to read an article this morning that reported Sir Edmund Hillary basically condemned the forty people who left the man to die. I'm glad there are people out there who thinks climbing a damn mountain is not as important as helping to save a man's life. It had appalled me to think people out there would rather conquer a mountain than stop and help someone. I don't care if these people had paid upwards of $75,000USD to have that privilege - it's a shamble. Appalling.

But I guess good can only coexist with bad.

So my last post was quite depressing - this one should be filled with love, right? I don't feel too loving, or lovely today. I still feel quite disgusted. With society in general. But if it's loving that you want, I'll end with a love song. Nick Cave once said there is always a good and bad side to love, so he writes the darker love songs, to express the truth. Well, what he said was something like that, only more poetic. I don't really remember. But the song kind of suits my current mood, I think.

Get down, get down little Henry Lee
And stay all night with me
You won't find a girl, in this damn world
That will compare with me

And the wind did howl
And the wind blow
La la la la la
La la la la lee
A little bird lit down on Henry Lee

I can't get down, and I won't get down
And stay all night with thee
For the girl I love in that merry green land
I love her better than thee

And the wind did howl
And the wind did blow
La la la la la
La la la la lee

A little bird lit down on Henry Lee

She leaned herself against a fence
Just for a kiss or two
And with a little pen knife, held in her hand
She plugged him, through and through

And the wind did roar
And the wind did moan
La la la la la
La la la la lee
A little bird lit down on Henry Lee

Come take him by his little white hands
Come take him by his feet
And throw him in this deep deep well
That's more than one hundred feet

And the wind did howl
And the wind did blow

La la la la la
La la la la lee
A little bird lit down on Henry Lee

Lie there, lie there little Henry Lee
Till the flesh drops from your bones
For the girl you love
Can wait forever for you to come home

And the wind did howl
And the wind did blow
La la la la la
La la la la lee

A little bird lit down on Henry Lee

- Nick Cave and PJ Harvey's Henry Lee
