A wedding to remember

I wrote this entry earlier this week, and had originally decided to keep it unpublished. Why? Well, I had read through it, and didn't like the way it flowed. Well, it actually doesn't flow at all. It was a brain dump. But then I wondered, 'who actually reads this, and, do they really care if it doesn't flow?'

You know the answer to that question, because here it is.

------------------------------------

What to say what to say?

I’ve put this entry off for the past week because I’ve been at a loss for words when thinking of Nikki and Tony’s wedding. Actually, that’s not true. The words that really do come to mind are, “beautiful”, “timeless”, “classic”, “fun”. What a wedding. What a day. My thoughts are quite blurred, so this will be an outpouring of random words that somehow form to become sentences and hopefully will follow a story. I'm writing this entry more for me than anyone else who actually reads this. So a recap.

I woke up bright and early at about 5:45am Saturday morning, got ready and picked Phuongy up at around 7am. Got to Winnii’s around 7:30am, and noticed she had decided to wear her “trashy” dress. Let me clarify what this meant. It was a short, floral number that made her look absolutely gorgeous. That, and, it took her 15 minutes to get ready and still look amazing. Pfft. Once Winnii was in the car, we took a detour to get some coffee for Winnii and I, and food for Phuongy down Carlisle St. While there, Winnii told us about her new coffee boy. Another one. Hehehehe. Anyway, that’s another story. Back to the main one.

Back in the car, we got to Nikki’s place around 8:15am, which was where I started taking random photos non stop for the next two hours, when the tea ceremony started. That’s also when the rain began to not pour down, but really pelt down. The groomsmen actually had to enter the house before it started to get out of the rain. Me, myself, I got teary when Tony’s dad started talking. I didn’t cry though – the moment just really hit me that yes, this is a big day, and yes, it’s special, and yes, Nikki will be married. Married. Married !!

The ceremony was short and simple. Nikki’s younger brother gave the most beautiful speech that even had Nikki teary. Once this was done, we had to travel to Tony’s parents’ house. Winnii, Phuong and I decided to follow Meaghan, because we didn’t know the address. But, by the time we got out onto the driveway, all the cars had already left, including Meaghan (!) and we were left floundering a little bit. I made an executive decision, and decided to take a punt. I saw a black Honda drive off, and, by instinct, I decided to follow it. Hondas – must be asian, right? Blindingly following this car in the pouring rain, we luckily (and logically, ofcourse) happened to follow the right car, and ended up at Tony’s parents house five minutes later. Phew.

Nevermind we were late, and we stayed there for roughly five minutes before the ceremony was over. Back to Nikki’s place for lunch. After lunch, we headed to the hotel to get ready. Winnii and I even managed to have a 20 minute nap to rest our eyes.

To the reception down by the Docklands. The function room was gorgeous, and perfect size.

We sat with some of the ILS folks, including Martin and Ami, as well as Linh, who we had met at the Hen’s night. Linh was the Vietnamese MC for the night. Pretty courageous job, I thought. The food was divine. There was a seafood platter, soft shell crab, lamb rack (and lobster for the vegetarians), and cake. Cake! The wedding cake was so cute, and naughty! It is SOOOOO Nikki and Tony! I’m gushing about the cake, because it was just so cute!

The speeches. I must admit, Jen and Kad did a good job saying it. When they finished their speech, I looked around and saw a few girls actually crying in the room, and I saw the bride herself choke back emotions. I have to admit, I thought it was a pretty good speech, and very touching. *polishes her nails on her shirt* Good job, Winnii.

The rest of the night was all dancing, first at the reception, and then onto Allumbra for the rest of the night. The band at the reception was amazing though. I didn’t catch their name, but they were SO SO SO good.

And the surprises kept coming! Firstly, Tony surprised Nikki by playing a song he had written up and had Sony record it (was it Sony?). It was called, ‘Nikki, my princess’, and was all about how they had met, instant attraction, and their love.

Then Nikki surprised Tony by.. Hmm.. Am I allowed to say this? All I’ll say is that she bared her butt cheek to Tony at Allumbra.

Lots of dancing then ensued for the rest of the night, and lots of drinking as well. Lots of fun!

The night finished at around 3-3:30am, and us girls stumbled back to the hotel by around 4am.

Congratulations Nikki and Tony!

It was a beautiful wedding, fit for a beautiful couple such as you two.
