It's been a running joke at the office ever since I started working here whether Gerry was ready to commit, and get married. He had been promoted to BDM just after his 30th birthday last May, and as part of that step, it seemed like Craig had free reign on teasing him about commitment. I think Craig discussed at the important '30' speech things like committment, and time to get serious etc.. Poor Gerry had been teased weekly on whether he had popped the question or not, and even when we were out together as a group, his girlfriend was even grilled on whether she wanted to be married, to push him along. The poor guy. The poor girl. She must think we're all nuts. Or just Craig, really.
So the poor guy finally popped the question around three weeks ago, to the team's delight.
I received the wedding invitation last Friday.
It took him more than eight months to bring up the courage to ask his girlfriend, Jess, to marry him.
Now, the date of the wedding?
Umm... Next month!!!!
I was floored when I read the invite.
My first question to Gerry-San: 'Is this date right?!'
Gerry's response: "Uhh.. Yea.. We didn't want to drag it out..'
I pause, letting that response sink in...
".... You didn't knock her up, did you...?'
He claims he didn't.. Hasn't, rather. Now the running joke in the office is WHEN Jess will be expecting.
All best are ON!!
