I went to a chiropractor last night. In fact, it was Lee’s chiropractor of seven years that I visited. And she was even there to greet me. Ok ok, she was working, but still, it was nice to see a familiar face.
While I was waiting, I read a brochure that Lee gave me, and gosh, when you put it into perspective, I’m surprised chiropractics isn’t more common. Look at it this way, as the brochure summarises: Your brain and your spinal cord are so important to your body that it’s the only two organs that are encased in bone. Pretty important, when you think of it that way eh? All the messages your brain sends to your body and organs are passed by the nerves coming from the spinal cord.
So, if your spinal cord is out of shape, the nerves can be blocked partially. When this happens, your organs aren't getting all of the messages your brain is sending, which, in turn, doesn’t allow your organs to function optimally. Dr. Joe, the chiropractor, mentioned something I thought really rang true. He looked at my xray, and pointed to a section of my spine, and said, ‘See here, this part of your spinal cord is out of shape, you can see right there, yea? Well, this section of the spinal cord sends signals to your liver, and because it’s out of shape, you may find that your body isn’t breaking down the toxins in your body as well as it should. So when you drink alcohol or anything like that, you may find you get lots of headaches, because your body just isn’t breaking it down properly.'
BINGO BONGO.
I ALWAYS get headaches from any kind of alcohol; I just thought all this time I was allergic to the stuff. Ha. So, in fact, it could be my liver.
Let’s test this out in a few months to see if I continue to get headaches from alcohol, eh?
Let’s see if my migraines disappear as well from this treatment. If it does, I’ll be ecstatic.
It’s strange. I can actually completely move my neck this morning. I haven’t been able to do that for years. Such a nice feeling. I don’t know why this hasn’t clicked to me earlier, but better late than never eh? Who knew your posture could have such a detrimental effect to your well being?
