I'm exhausted today. These odd sleeping patterns, coupled with the noise from where I'm staying at in Darlinghurst has been making it even harder for me to sleep recently. I feel drained.
It's been an interesting morning. Ahhh, it was my own fault, anyway. The agent gave me two keys to my apartment plus the carpark buzzer. One key is the common key opening the secured building, the other key opens my deadlock to my apartment. However, the doorknob on my door also has a lock, but it never locked, and I didn't get the key to it. I didn't follow up with the agency, because I tested it, and it didn't lock from the inside either, so I figured it was just an old lock.
Well, that came to bite me this morning. Went to the apartment because I was supposed to have three deliveries today: my TV, washing machine and fridge. So, I opened the door, dropped off my bag, and some household stuff I had bought during the week, and left everything in the apartment to go back down to my car to get more stuff - my kettle etc. When I got back with armfuls of stuff, I found that the lock on the doorknob was locked. With all my stuff inside my apartment: my wallet, my phones, my security pass to my serviced apartment, the agency's details, the delivery numbers to call. Everything. I didn't have the key to that lock. I knew my TV was being delivered very soon - the delivery driver had already called. I didn't have my phone or his number to call him back.
Drove to the real estate agency, and explained the situation to them, hoping to God I didn't get pulled over by police to check my drivers licence, because that was in my apartment. They didn't have the key to the lock either. They called the owner, who was rude to them, and said she didn't have that key as well. So, a locksmith was organised to come out and change the lock. But then the owner dropped by the agency on her run, and gave me two plastic bags that contained about 30 keys. She said to try those, and see if any of them was the right key.
I drove back to the apartment, worried that the delivery guy had already come and gone (any of the three), and tried all the keys. Didn't work. Went back to the agency, and they organised a locksmith to come out.
So, I drove back to my apartment, and waited out the front of the building for either the locksmith, or any of the delivery guys. Close to an hour later, the delivery guy shows up with the TV, and it was his last drop before he headed out west, so it would've been really unfair to ask him to come back after that drop. So.. he dropped off my 40' TV with me. And I stood at the front, with my TV, waiting for the locksmith.
Locksmith came to the good, and replaced the barrel and keys. They really are life savers.
So then the delivery guy for the washing machine came up, and he dropped it off at my apartment. But. He needed a socket driver to unscrew the bolts so he could connect the hoses. He didn't have any tools in his van. My apartment is empty - I don't have any tools yet either. So now, I have my washing machine sitting in a corner, not connected yet, and it's too heavy for me to move the damn thing, and it's in the way of the kitchen. His colleague is dropping by some time today to connect the hoses for me, so now I'm waiting on two more people to arrive.
So, if the delivery guy comes this afternoon for the fridge, I'm going to have to somehow lug the washing machine out of the way first, and then move the fridge to the kitchen.
It's been an eventful morning.
I want to take a nap.
