I really should be working. Really. Honestly. I have so much work to do, so many things to chase up. And yet, I find myself sitting at my desk, procrastinating. My procrastinating buddy has gone off to sleep, I think, after working a long shift last night.
It's currently the calm before the storm. Had a RFQ due on Friday, which was submitted, barely on time. Today is the quiet day, before it picks up again. I've been put on another short turnaround time RFQ, due next Friday. Unbelievable. This is the 5th project in a row I've worked where the turnaround time has been ridiculously short (2 weeks or less). Meanwhile, the other engineers get to work on the 6 week projects. Sigh.
Well, I shouldn't complain. Just kind of feel I can't get the other stuff I need to do out of the way, because James had been on my back about it before he left. Well, I really can't complain in this forum, not when I'm sitting here, procrastinating, rather than actually doing something.
But I digress. I wanted to write about Judy's blog. Hehe. How to be a top student, the easy way. I must admit, I actually agree with her. Other than the stationary thing. Just give me a pen and some white lined pages. I found the cutesy stationary a distracting factor in my daydreaming. Hehe. The pictures were just way too cute, and I found myself in class, drawing away, adding to the pictures.
But apart from that small thing, it makes sense, what she writes. She made a very good point about the way our brains work, how smart it is. She also made a very good point about education, in general. It really is just about the piece of paper, isn't it? You can argue all you want with your lecturer, and debate your point across, but at the end of the day, they are the ones who grade you, and you make life much simpler by telling them what they want to hear.
Read Judy's lessons 1,2 and 3 on how to be a good student, the easy way, at http://judytang.com/ Anyone else agree? Now I'm interested in how people study. Comments anyone? Luce? How did you used to study? I must admit, I was quite organised, and can relate to a lot of what Judy wrote. Come exam time, I remembered in my head what I wrote, where I wrote it, and my brain actually remembered sequences of why I did things. So.. Comments? I really want to know how you studied!
