Cathy: Hey! See this guy? He's really cool!
Me: Uh-huh
Cathy: And so is this guy! *points* And him too! *points at another white haired guy*
Me: Ahh.. Ok
Cathy: Oh! And him! *points at another spiky white haired guy* And this guy! He's ultra cool, but reallly meannnn
*Me looking at the characters painted on the wall scroll*
Me: That's like.. most of the cast you've just pointed out
Cathy: Yea! They're ALL cool!
Hahaha. She's so cute.
Cathy and Sang have been busying themselves making hand made chocolates and cooking for themselves the past few weeks. Damn, they look good. Check them out! They tasted really good too.. I've forgotten how creative those two can be. So domesticated. They've been forced to be even more domesticated while I've been gone by cooking for themselves every night, because they don't trust mum's food hygiene practices anymore. The stories they tell. Hmm.. It makes me wonder.
Even right now, they're making cookies. As if we don't have enough junk food here already.
It was good to see Elise though. She's been Cathy's friend since they were.. 5 years old. She was so excited, she was telling me about the new car she just bought. I gotta tell you, it's refreshing to hear that there are still sensible people who buy crappy old cars for their first car. Not these young yuppies who all buy brand new $20K+ cars. She bought it at an auction for $3,500 - a '97 Mazda 323 Astina hatchback. She was so excited that I got excited for her. She was even excited that her key couldn't open the driver's side door, and she had to open it from the passenger door and slide across to drive it. Lol. That brings back memories of the first car I drove - the crappy little silver '79 Mazda 323 that always stalled and died on me. I remember Nhan and I pushing that little Mazda one night it wouldn't start, and we pushed it for a good kilometre home. I loved that car. Good memories learning to drive in that car. I learned so much abour cars driving that old car. Loved it.
Gotta take some photos of the Christmas tree and the presents. Cathy's done such a good job with the wrapping. They've even made their own bon bons this year. Jesus. They've had wayyyy too much time on their hands.
In other news, just got confirmation this afternoon that I got approval for the apartment I applied for yesterday. Bronwyn actually convinced me to apply, without really convincing me. Funny conversation:
Bronwyn: How did the inspection go?
Me: Umm.. Yea.. It was alright. Place was gorgeous, but it didn't have a balcony.. or air con..
*Bronwyn looking at me*
Bronwyn: Don't tell me you're one of those girls who can't settle?
Me: I just figure if I'm going to pay that much rent, it should at least have a balcony or air con...
Bronwyn: Hmm.. Right.. Hmm.. So what can't you live without?
Me: Hmm.. Sunlight. Balcony and air con is nice to have
Bronwyn: ..... Right
*Me muttering*: Ah.. for crying out loud...
So I called the agent, had a quick chat with him, and sent through my application. It was a good thing I spoke to him at length yesterday, and we had a good laugh when we first met. I was early (as always), when this young fella who looked about 24 years old strolled by:
Dale: Hi.. Are you here for the inspection?
Me: Yea.. You too?
Dale: Ahh.. I'm the agent.. Do I look too young?
Me: Hahaha - Do I look too young to apply?
Dale: Nahh.. Come on through. When are you looking to move?
Me: Oh, I'm flexible. I can move any time up til end of January/early February
*Dale looking puzzled*
Me: I've just accepted a job with work in Sydney, so my dates are flexible when I can move
Dale: Ahh... Do you know this area well?
Me: Umm.. A little bit. My work colleagues told me that if I move here, I can be a pretentious snob
Dale: *laughing* Yea.. Well, that's the thing - if you move into this area, you'll live with all the other pretentious snobs around here too.
Me: Hehehe.. Thanks!
He said I put in a really good application. There were another two applicants (probably the two other people I met at the inspection), but he said he pushed for my application. So yea. I placed a deposit on the place this afternoon, and get the keys 7th January.
It's all happening.
