The fascination of space

When I was younger, I was fascinated with space. I always wanted to be an astronaut. I only gave up that dream when I realised I was not good at Physics, and only then in late high school. Perhaps that's why I like the film Gattaca so much: I had a growing dislike for this one so I would look up to the stars, and dream of a new world.

I watched a documentary last night about space that once again drew my attention to it, and the world beyond. And I fell in love with space again. Sometimes I still have that dream where I'm on a spaceship, travelling somewhere. I've blogged about this dream before. I had the same dream last night after I watched this documentary. And once again I was swept away into an entirely different world for a few hours.

This time, I was standing at a window portal, and I could see into deep space. Outside the window, and far, far below, I could see a huge, twinkling, swirling, purple galaxy. And I asked the person I was standing behind if that was where we were headed. And she said yes. I asked if she knew anything about the world, and she said very little. And I knew from her response that we were supposed to explore it.

And to me, just like that *snap*

Magic.

When you have dreams like that, you never want to wake up.
